Namaste. Thanks for such a lovely description of your travels in Ladakh. Gorgeous photos ! ! !
I have been picking them up for some time and nice to follow the journey's to it's finish.
I am Australian and will leave 16th November for a week in Nepal before venturing to Ladakh ! I will probably not be able to do as much moving around as you did, but I am looking forward to the experience. Would you be kind enough to tell me the name of the Guest House where you stayed in Leh? And their email address also ? Are they open for Winter? It is always nice to know of a place which has been enjoyed by another traveller. Many thanks, Marcia.

    Hi Marcia,

    Thanks.

We stayed at Padma Ladakh. It is a family-run guest house and we had a great time. They have a website with upto-date contact info: http://www.padmaladakh.net/. They are indeed open during winters.

    Cheers!

I always take my camera (Nikon D40 with batteries) in my cabin baggage. I think most folks do. Else how can we explain the awesome sunrise/sunset/night-city shots on Flickr taken from plane windows? ;-)

It's actually 'officially' allowed when you are flying into Ladakh. But they don't allow batteries on board when flying out from J&K - i.e. from Ladakh or Srinagar. In hindsight it all turned out to be a sham.

I see, I was not aware of these special restrictions. I would have also followed the rules in that case :-)
